So, here we are in 2016 already. Last year was a bit of a blur for me, with days flying by as fast as pages being rifled in a book. It went by so quickly, I didn’t get much of a chance to take a breath and plan my release schedule for this year until very recently.
Rather than prattle on about that, however, today I’m writing to let you know that I’ve sneaky-ninja-dropped a brand new book on Amazon! No big fuss this time. I simply finished, edited, and shoved it out the door. Marketing? What’s that? Pfft. :P
The new title I’ve sent out into the wild is one I’ve been sitting on for around five years now. It had 60,000-ish words of unfinished business that I finally decided to kick into gear. Determined not to let it languish a moment longer, I bore down and got it done. Last summer I had the brilliant opportunity to visit a friend who fancied herself a bit of a pirate, and allowed me the pleasure of shooting her (with a camera) for the cover, so that served as extra motivation to get the book out and into the world.
In August 2014, I released the first book in the Antigone’s Wrath series, Master of Myth. This steampunk adventure was my first foray into the genre, but I knew there was still much to do in that world. And so, I can now proudly announce that the sequel is live in the Kindle store! Master of Machines is currently enrolled in Kindle Unlimited, so if you’re a subscriber, it’s ready and waiting for you. The print version is still forthcoming, but I hope to have it available in the next few weeks. Check out the beautiful Ms. Amanda Daws on this cover!
Book Description:
The crew of the Antigone’s Wrath returns for more adventures around the world!
Two years after the devastating events on Yonaguni island, the consequences are still rippling through Captain Rachel Sterling’s life. Unable to bring herself to replace what she lost in that tragic affair, both she and Danton DuSalle are stretched thin. When the master-at-arms is crippled by his spreading “condition,” Rachel has little recourse but to turn to the only man who might be able to help.
Silas Jensen never expected to return to the Antigone’s Wrath, but has an utter inability to say no when Rachel comes crashing back into his life. Between explosions and being shot at, he didn’t think it was possible for things to get worse, but the never-ending mysteries of Rachel’s heritage make every step more difficult than the last.
In a race against time, Rachel and Silas chase a legend across the globe, but are their new allies as benevolent as they seem? Even millennia can’t keep some secrets buried.

This book brought with it some interesting new ideas. I’ve gone all-in on alternate history for this story, including places and historical figures fictionally twisted around my little finger to form a brand new adventure. Secret societies shouldn’t only be the domain of the dark and villainous, should they? Perhaps some of the most brilliant minds in recorded history were a part of something much larger and much more transformative than we can guess at. There’s a lot for the crew of the Antigone’s Wrath left to learn even after this installment, so you’ll be seeing one more book in this series some time in the future (although I’m not committing to any sort of timeline there).
This story takes our intrepid cast of characters all around the globe: from England to Egypt, to Katmandou and the California coast, Rachel and Silas are determined to find the answers they need.
As an extra bonus, if you haven’t yet begun this series, book 1, Master of Myth, is on sale for 99 cents for one full week! It’s a great opportunity to dive into this world of magic and machines that might’ve been.
Happy reading!
