So, hey. Wow. Check this out.
Some time ago I wrote up a small piece for the Tales from the Archives podcast anthology. People seemed to like it quite a bit. This made me very happy as that’s what a writer aims for, right?
Now that little story has gone and impressed the judges over at the Parsec Awards enough to become a finalist in the Best Speculative Fiction Story: Large Cast category. Large cast might be a bit of a stretch, as it’s really only three people, but two was the cutoff for the Small Cast, so there you have it.
Honestly, I’m not expecting to win. There is some amazing competition in the category (including another Tale from the Archives!) and I’m still hesitant to believe that my little story could be considered THE BEST of anything. Then again, I wasn’t really expecting to be a finalist this year either after hearing From Paris, With Regret had been nominated, so maybe I should withhold full on pessimism for now.
This year has been filled with some really amazing surprises so far. With the first place win for Antigone’s Wrath I’m wondering if maybe I haven’t used up my quota of winnings for the year or if I’m just on a really good streak that will continue.
Either way, I won’t really know until Dragon*Con at the beginning of September. In the meantime, I will quietly smile and gaze upon my second Finalist badge (when it arrives) with pride and satisfaction. I’m sure I can find other things to occupy me until then. LOL *glances nervously at To-Do list*
