I promised news on the availability of the first book in the Endure series, Maven, earlier this week, so here I am, back to tell you all about what’s going on.
After a few nibbles from the traditional publishing world (which was pretty exciting and frustrating and well, you know), I’ve decided to take the plunge and go full-bore into self-publishing the series.
So when can you expect this out in the world? Well, after embarking on another round of edits to make sure everything is as tight as it can be, I’ve set a date.
Monday, June 3rd, 2013 is release day.
Originally, I had wanted to be done with everything in time for a Balticon release, but I decided I would rather take a little extra time and do everything right than back myself into a corner with too ambitious a schedule. In the extra time I’ll be putting a last layer of polish on the manuscript, formatting it, doing promotional stuff… the whole nine yards.
The cover is already done. It’s actually been done for a few months now. I got a little overexcited back in February and put together covers for the first three of the four books in the series.
Want to see what you’re getting?
*waits*
What? You thought I’d just drop it in here quietly and be done with it? Oh no. I’m doing a cover reveal day all by itself!
Want to be a part of the Big Reveal? If you’ve got a blog and don’t mind plugging a little SciFi Romance (with New Adult leanings) on it, I encourage you to sign up on this form created by the super-helpful Dani Morales. I’m so incredibly excited to be starting on this new adventure and can’t thank everyone that’s lending me a hand nearly as much as I want to. I hope people are half as excited as I am to see this story finally available!
I’ve also updated the book blurb, as it was feeling a little off for me. And so, here’s the new, shiny version:
How far would you go for love?
Since losing her parents at 14, young prodigy Dr. Lydia Ashley has focused on one thing: an appointment on the Deep Water Research Command Endure. Now 21, she’s about to realize that dream, but nothing is how she imagined it would be. Her transitional sponsor forgets her, her new lab is in complete chaos, and, as if that weren’t enough, she’s about to discover something so horrific it could potentially destroy all life on the planet.
Daniel Brewer, a noted playboy and genius in his own right, may be exactly what she needs… Or he may make everything worse.
Has she finally found a puzzle she can’t solve?
Once the book is ready I’ll be putting out a call for ARC reviewers and blog tour stuffs, so there’s lots of things coming in the next few weeks!
Of course the cover will be shown here, as well as a list of all the blogs participating in the Big Reveal, so if you don’t do this whole blogging thing you can still get in on the excitement.
IT’S LIKE A MONTH-LONG PARTY! WITH PRESENTS FOR EVERYONE! OMG! :)
This is only the beginning. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the journey holds!

Congrats on the upcoming series Starla. Will you be putting your considerable voice talents to work on this one?
Starla Huchton says
Khaalidah –
Probably not doing the audio version for this one. I’m a little swamped with projects at the moment and, to be honest, I don’t know if I’d be completely comfortable narrating this one. I’m kind of a chicken. LOL
khaalidah (@khaalidah) says
I totally get the swamped bit. I admire folks who juggle that so much better than I do. But I don’t get the chickened bit. Do you know how awesome you are?
Doc Coleman says
Going to out-source the audio? via ACX maybe?
Doc
Starla Huchton says
Nope. No plans to audiobook this one right now.

Sweeeeeet! Sounding good. I’ve got to go sign up now. ;) Thank you!

Ah. I was wondering why you weren’t narrating Lindsay Buroker’s EE series anymore. This is great news! Congratulations on your new release!
