It has occurred to me of late that it’s been awhile since I’ve posted on the blog. So I looked tonight and realized it’s been nearly THREE MONTHS since my last posting. Uh… oops.
Things have been quite crazy around here. I’ve been neck deep in the final semester of my Graphic Design degree and it hasn’t left much room for anything else. What little time I do have, has been filled with all the creative projects I can possibly cram into it. This post is a little glimpse into the sort of things I’ve been doing.
Firstly, The Emperor’s Edge podcast continues to be one of the higher ranking podcasts I’ve been involved with to date. I’d like to think it’s all due to my stellar narrating abilities (LOL), but I think it’s more attributable to Lindsay Buroker, the author. Book two of the series is in the works for Podiobook release, and the third was just released in print and ebook. All her books are available to buy, in case you just can’t wait to hear the end. I’m hoping listeners from EE will find their way to TDT and give it a listen as well, but I’m glad folks are enjoying my narration all the same.
Secondly, I launched my very first hand-coded, self-designed website EVAR. I figured since I’ve been doing so much of this design stuff, I should probably put up an e-portfolio and try to drum up some business! It was a project for an independent study class this semester, and I’m quite proud of the result. You can go take a peek here, if you’d like to see some samples of my work!
Thirdly, speaking of samples of my work, several new covers I’ve done for fellow authors have gone live of late. Two of these are V.G. Ford’s SNOW novella (view it here) and Doc Coleman’s short story WELCOME TO PARADOX (view it here). There are two other covers finished but unreleased by their authors as of this date and several more in the works, so it’s been keeping me quite busy! Each cover has presented me with its own challenges, but I’m really enjoying the work. I’m hoping to launch an actual business venture possibly next year or early 2013, depending on what life throws at me.
Fourthly, a brand new website is in the works, one that is not TDT-centric. It will encompass TDT and every other writing, podcasting, and narrating adventure I embark upon. The design looks SUPER AWESOME, but my web-guru won’t have the time to tweak the code as needed until the holiday break, so it isn’t live yet. Coming very soon!
Fifthly, I have a new short story available to read, but it comes with a catch: You must donate towards the therapy costs of a severely autistic young man. He is the son of The Gearheart creator, Alex White. For as little as 10 bucks, you can grab a copy of this 7k word story “Fires in the Snow”, along with one of Alex’s stories AND a novel and many other AWESOME things depending on your level of giving. Alex is even putting his truly amazing design and composing skills up for grabs at the higher levels of donation. Seriously guys. What you get for your donation is worth five times what you will pay, and it all goes to help a little boy who sincerely needs the assistance. If you want to do something good for someone this season, PLEASE GO HERE AND DONATE! Don’t let the target amount fool you. Each month of the therapy totals about $2600, none of it covered by insurance. Anyway, get over there and give a little money. It will for certain make someone’s holiday brighter, which is not what you could say about those ridiculous socks you gave your uncle or the noisy toy you gave that kid to test the sanity of their parents. Srsly. HELP A KID LEARN TO TALK.
I think that’s about all I have to announce for the moment. Unless Santa brings me a literary agent or publisher for ANTIGONE’S WRATH for Christmas, the next thing you see here is probably a brand new site design. I can’t wait to send it out to the interwebs! It’s really quite lovely.
Until then, be good. And if you can’t be good, be good at it. :P
