Part 2 of the Dragon*Con wrap up post.
If you saw my Twitter feed on Sunday night, you might have noticed the copious amounts of expletives and unexplained freaking out coming from me. I wasn’t in a position to invite the whole world, so I was restricted to random tweets of SQUEE.
We were people watching before heading to the “Get Pissed With The FDO” event, when we came across Alex White. He immediately instructed us to report to his room, where an unnamed big name was holding court.
I love Alex White.
We walked in to see Colin Ferguson lounging in a chair, chatting with the room. Turns out, he agreed to do an episode of Disasterpiece Theatre, which they opted to do live at Dragon*Con. Have I said yet how nice and down to earth Colin is? Cuz I’ll say it again, if you missed it. The man even listened (raptly, at that, bless him) to my stories about Iceland and Japan and answered any and all questions anyone asked about Eureka. Then he hops on his phone. When I ask what he was up to, he says “trying to get my friend Nicole here”. After pondering the DC guest list, I immediately follow up with, “does she have a last name?”.
And hey, who should show up but Nicole DeBoer.
Yes. The Star Trek: DS9, the Dead Zone, and Haven Nicole DeBoer.
As if that weren’t enough, Colin also gets Mischa Collins from Supernatural (pauses for everyone’s fangirl screams) to join us.
And I listened to them all record Disasterpiece Theatre in that hotel room. (Colin’s episode is live as of this posting)
Oh, but we’re not done yet.
Mischa decides he’s ready to move on and find something else to do and herds everyone out. We end up downstairs and outside, and I get to chatting with Nicole, who is super super nice. We trade stories about our kids, the perils of curling irons, funny con stories, and she shepherds us all behind the velvet ropes at the Hilton karaoke area.
In my roaming around with Nicole, my friends find themselves abandoned and now entertained by Chris Gauthier (Vincent on Eureka), Robin Thoreson and Amy Okuda from the Guild and Jordan Hinson (Zoe on Eureka). I think the trade off was okay for them. LOL
After the VIP massages and beer, we topped off the night with a 4 a.m. meal with PG Holyfield and Tim Dodge. On the way back, we ran into Phil Plait leaving with Frasier Cain (Co-host of AstronomyCast with Pamela Gay). This was most fortuitous as I think Scott would’ve been beside himself if he hadn’t talked to Phil at least once over the weekend.
I went to bed last night wondering how on earth any other Dragon*Con will ever be better than what I lived through this weekend. I’m half-tempted not to go next year out of fear of being disappointed! However, our friends we talked into going have already reserved rooms for next year and are busily recruiting more folks to go with us. I appear to have developed an entourage somehow….
But that’s the end of the story. My liver will now go into recovery mode until Balticon next year. That’s over 8 months to recover. Should be enough, right?
Best. Weekend. EVAR.

Man, all those pics and I’m in none of them. I think you cropped me out of them all.
